Best Friend Fence Wireless Dog Fence Kit Components

Our galvanized steel, black powder-coated posts work to ensure that your wireless dog fence enclosure is as stable and secure as possible for your pet and remains that way for many years. Available with your wireless dog fence kit in two different grades, heavy duty and standard, our support posts are fully customized to fit your individual needs.
Install 9' or 7' Standard Best Friend Posts by either driving them into the ground with a sledge hammer (you will need a step ladder) or by digging a hole. 9' Best Friend posts should be installed 2' into the ground while the 7' posts should go approximately 18" into the ground.
For the installation of the Best Friend Fence Heavy Duty Post and sleeve, drive the sleeve into the ground with a sledge hammer. Be sure to use a driving cap to protect the sleeve from the blows of the sledge. *Hint-use a digging bar to create a pilot hole. The sleeve will not go through rock. If you hit a rock pull the sleeve out and try again in a different spot. Once the sleeve is installed the post can then be inserted into the sleeve.
Heavy Duty Posts and sleeves should be installed approximately 15' apart while Standard Best Friend Posts should be installed about 12' apart.
Zip Ties
Our Best Friend Fence zip ties are the perfect thing to securely attach our wireless dog fence to the support posts. They also work well when you need to attach sections of the wireless dog fence together or if you need to attach the Chew Guard. One standard zip tie has a breaking point of 50 pounds, whereas a heavy duty zip tie can handle up to 120 pounds. Thus, we recommend that when you install your wireless dog fence, you use at least 5 zip ties per post. This will ensure that your enclosure is a strong as possible. Also, for the maximum pet protection, your wireless dog fence should be installed on the inside of your support posts and then fastened with zip ties.
Ground Stakes
Dogs, pets, other wildlife have been known to dig underneath enclosure systems or find a way to wriggle underneath the bottom of an enclosure. To make sure that this does not become a problem with your Best Friend Fence enclosure, we have included galvanized steel ground stakes in your wireless dog fence enclosure kit. The stakes are specifically designed with a series of zigzag bends in the structure so that they will slide easily into the ground but will stay securely fastened once inserted. Depending on your terrain, the stakes should be inserted into the ground, tightly pinning down the bottom 6" of the wireless dog fence mesh, approximately every 5-6'. If your terrain is rocky or hilly, please note that your enclosure system may require a few more strategically placed stakes.
Chew Guard
A dog's front teeth are pointed and intended to penetrate rather than chew through materials. However, although it is extremely difficult, a dog might find a way to get their mouth far enough into the fence grid and use their rear teeth to gnaw through the fence. Thus, it is a possibility that your dog could chew through your wireless dog fence enclosure. As a preventative measure, we here at Best Friend Fence have developed a black PVC-coated, welded galvanized wire barrier to be used in conjunction with your enclosure system. Available in various heights, this Chew Guard is designed to be attached to the bottom (approx. 1'-2') part of the wireless dog fence enclosure and flared inward. The Chew Guard should then be staked into the ground to prevent digging. If your dog is prone to gnawing and chewing, look for our special wireless dog fence kits that include the Chew Guard barrier! It will save your fence and give you added peace of mind that your dig is safe and protected in a Best Friend Fence wireless dog fence enclosure.
Access Gates
If you are need of a gate for your wireless dog fence enclosure, we have the solution for you! Our access gates can be installed at any point within your wireless dog fence enclosure and they are available in a variety of sizes ranging from 4-14 feet long and from 5-7.5 feet high. The larger gates are great for driveway access, while the smaller ones work well for you and your dog to easily enter and exit the enclosure. Each access gate kit comes with everything that you need to install the gate within your wireless dog fence enclosure except a driving cap and the fence material that you will need to fill the frame.
